A1 Movers Listening Part 5 — Colour and Write
In Movers Listening Part 5, your child looks at one large black-and-white scene and follows spoken instructions to colour objects and write a word on the picture. There are five questions.
How Movers Listening Part 5 works
Your child gets one large black-and-white scene with several objects that could be coloured.
The speakers name an object and where it is — 'the ball under the tree' — then say what to do: colour it red, or write a word.
Your child finds the object first, then follows the instruction.
Five instructions in total, mixing colouring with a small writing task.
Everything is heard twice, so half-finished colouring can be completed on the second pass.
Tips to prepare for Part 5
Teach 'find first, act second': locate the object and its position — 'the ball under the tree' — before touching a pencil.
Know all eleven Cambridge colours instantly by ear — red, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, brown, grey, black, white; hesitating between purple and pink costs marks here.
Neatness isn't marked — a quick, clear patch of colour in the right place is a full mark.
For the writing instruction, listen for the exact word and spell it carefully — it is usually short and from the Movers list.

Frequently asked questions
Does neat colouring matter in Part 5?
Not at all. Examiners only check that the correct object is coloured in a recognisable version of the correct colour, and that the written word is readable. A quick, rough patch of colour in the right place scores exactly the same as careful colouring — speed matters more than artistry here.
Which colours does a Movers child need to know?
The standard Cambridge set: red, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, brown, grey, black and white. Your child should recognise them instantly by ear, because each instruction combines a colour with a position — 'colour the ball under the tree red' — and both halves must be right.
What does the writing instruction in Part 5 ask for?
Alongside the colouring, the recording asks your child to write a simple word somewhere on the scene — for example, a word on a sign or a box in the picture. The word is short and comes from the Movers wordlist, but spelling it correctly is part of the answer.
Is there a Part 5 in Starters too?
No — Pre-A1 Starters Listening has only four parts, with a colouring-only task at Part 4. Movers adds the writing element and a fifth part. If your child has done Starters, the colouring format will feel familiar; the new challenge is writing a word as well as colouring.
